How is art a form of protest today?
Now that we are in the new year… it’s time for a new season of Art of Resistance.
And that new season starts Monday, Jan 12.

In Season 2, you’ll now get a new episode every other week. Plus, the season will be a bit longer. That means more stories of resistance throughout 2026. Because we’re gonna need it.
I make the Art of Resistance as an act of hope – for myself, and for anyone who needs it. I make it to reaffirm the power of art, and the importance of making the art we want and need to make.
Now since its newly 2026, you may have set some creative goals for the year. Maybe you want to make more art as resistance.
As part of my mission for Art of Resistance, I’m creating better tools and support for creative people like me and you. Things that help you make the dangerous, powerful art you’re meant to make. A few of those tools are now available. All of them approved by the podcats: Ziggy, Louise, and Winona Ryder.
Let’s say you’re wanting to create your own podcast in 2026. I got a weekly email course that will guide you step by step.
Let’s say you’re wanting to branch out this year into other art forms. I’ve got a private podcast and video series called Art School for Adults, featuring working writers, artists, performers, designers, and more, giving a real intro to their field.
Let’s say you’re neurodivergent like me. You’ve wanted to do all the grassroots activism you can… but it’s all for neurotypicals. I’ve got a guide on how to be an Autivist – an autistic (or ADHD) artist and activist.
And there’s new tools and support coming every month.
You can get all of the existing and future Rebel Yell Creative tools, plus a community homebase and coaching opportunities, through a membership. There’s options for all budgets, including pay what you want.
Learn more about all these options when you sign up at Rebel Yell Creative.com for free. Plus a weekly newsletter keeping you up to date on this show and good resistance news.
Ok. Now, if you’ll allow me, I also want to mention a couple other things. I made this show in part because I’ve long been dedicated to making dangerous art. And some of it is out in the world, where you can see and hear.
And if you like this show, you might like my books, music, and other audio. And it’s perfect if you’re looking to read more or branch out this year.
I’m an author of a few books.
Exile in Guyville and Dig Me Out are story collections featuring wonderfully angry women.
A Grotesque Animal is a memoir about my discovery of late-diagnosed autism, and how it brought more exploration of class, gender, sexuality, and more.
A Woman is a God is a novel about chosen families aging together.
And Not a Stitch to Wear is a novel about the fuckery that is women’s clothing, and three women who seek out something better.
Also – if you like audio fiction, you may like my podcast Wyrd Woman. That’s W-y-r-d. It’s 9 episodes, and tells a world-and-time-spanning story made for today’s bizarre world.
Finally, I make music for angry women and weirdoes under the name Nuclear Shadow. I’ve got a new album called She Tried to Be Good, out soon on Spotify and elsewhere. It’s good to listen to as you make your 2026 plans.
Thank you for listening to all that! I appreciate your support of the show, and hope that with it, and with the tools and support from Rebel Yell Creative, you can make dangerous, powerful creative work this year.
